In navolging van haar zojuist uitgelekte “Pink Friday” album, vinden we Nicki Minaj terug op de cover het Billboard Magazine november issue. Sinds de vele samenwerkingen met voornamelijk hiphop en r&b artiesten in Amerika, is Nicki’s ster rijzende. Ze word ook wel als de nieuwe Missy Elliot bestempeld en in sommige (extreme) gevallen als de Lady Gaga van Hip-Hop. In het artikel vind je onder andere het hele verhaal over de “Lil Wayne Gate”. Nicki Minaj zou uit Waynes crew zijn verstoten na de “I Am Music” tour uit 2009. Naast opheldering over dit voorval is er ook veel gesprekstof over haar toekomstige album(s), de samenwerkingen met diverse artiesten en wat Nicki nou eigenlijk zou willen betekenen voor de internationale muziekwereld.
She says, ”I started to record by myself and I lost track of what I was doing and who I wanted to be. It wasn’t until I linked back up with Wayne that he gave me this speech. He said, ‘What happened? You were hot,’ and it just hurt me so much. I wanted to prove to him that I was still hot. It hurt my ego so bad that I went back with a vengeance.”
